Luckner's Auctioneers online
Luckners is the first Internet-only auction house in the United Kingdom, selling antiques, modern design and decorative collectables. The concept for the business is based on the Danish Internet auction house Lauritz.com that Luckners founder, Simon Neubert-Luckner an ex-Christies education graduate, has previously worked for. Lauritz.com has not only become the largest auction house in Scandinavia with sales in Year 5 of 44m, but also one of the ten biggest auction houses in the world. Luckners has managed to establish a growing following from not just trade buyers and sellers, but eBay users and an increasing number of online UK consumers. Luckners deals in one of the worlds most active markets: mid-range auctions. In the UK alone, professionals estimate it is worth approximately 450 million. Online, eBays Affordable Art (the upper class of its collectible auctions) increased sales by 67% from 2003 to 2004 and in 2005 it was selling over 920 pieces per day. The current database of Luckners clients stretches from the US to Japan and Australia.
